The Problem: With the popularisation of the Global Internet, email has become a tremendously efficient communications medium. Unlike the telephone, which tends to ring when you're already busy, electronic mail is non-invasive - you decide exactly when to read (and respond to) your messages. This (and the fact that written messages tend to be clearer and more precise that verbal communication) means that you can give the matter your full attention. It's hard to envisage an office without telephone and fax facilities, and once you've tried electronic mail in your office you will wonder how you ever survived without it! The Solution: For those of a technical bent, our email gateway uses standard POP and SMTP protocols to talk to client PC's so that you can use the widest range of email clients. The gateway is provided with a modem which automatically calls one of the servers here at A-Net every hour to process mail to and from your network. Your network is never connected directly to the Internet and is therefor completely invisible to hackers. Costing: The cost of installing and configuring email client software on your networked PC's will vary. If you're using Windows95 or NT it is usually a straightforward task and would therefor cost about $50 per PC.
